Etymology[edit]

By hybridization of the inherited Proto-Slavic *-ašь (as in бога̀та̄ш (rich man), from *bogatašь) and the borrowed Hungarian -ás (as in па̏прика̄ш, from paprikás).

Suffix[edit]

-аш (Latin spelling -aš)

  1. Suffix appended to words to create a masculine noun, usually denoting a person who does something, performer, age, athlete, or a follower.
    на̏фта + ‎-аш → ‎на̀фта̄ш
    ло́ва + ‎-аш → ‎ло̀ва̄ш
