-icchiàre (verb-forming suffix, first-person singular present -ìcchio, first-person singular past historic -icchiài, past participle -icchiàto, auxiliary avére)

  1. used to derive verbs with a frequentative connotation
    bere (to drink) + ‎-icchiare → ‎bevicchiare (to drink often or excessively)
  2. used to derive verbs with a diminutive connotation
    dormire (to sleep) + ‎-icchiare → ‎dormicchiare (to doze)
    campare (to live, to get by) + ‎-icchiare → ‎campicchiare (to scrape by, to barely get by)
