-s- + -in; -s- probably originates from two sources:[1]
- re-extracted from -in derivatives for -aista verbs, such as laukaisin < laukaista
- by analogy with -ise- nouns

Etymology 1[edit]
Inherited from Ottoman Turkish ـسڭ (-sin), from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (-sen, -sin, -san, -sın), ultimately from Proto-Turkic *sen. Cognate with Azerbaijani -sən. Compare -im (“first-person singular suffix”) from Common Turkic *ben (see ben (“I”)).
