In reference to a 2014 survey conducted by the Williams Institute among the transgender population in the US, according to which 41% of the respondents had attempted suicide in their lifetimes.[1]

Usage notes[edit]

  • The statistic is often misinterpreted, sometimes deliberately so, as the percentage of transgender who have committed suicide, and thus the usage in "to join [the statistic]".
