Etymology[edit]

Either from New Latin, from French abeille (honeybee) +‎ -ia, or, after M. Abeillé (fl. 1839) and his wife, Félice, French naturalists and collectors (Abeillia, Arremon, Hesperiphona, Icterus, Orchesticus)*.
