Etymology[edit]

From Latin Achilles (from Ancient Greek Ἀχιλλεύς (Akhilleús)) + Mongolian баатар (baatar, hero), named by Altangerel Perle in 1999 in reference to the Achilles tendon, which powered its sickle-shaped claws.
