     Item: [Nimm an,] es ginge ein Schiff von Kairo gen Konstantinopel, das hat 3 Segel, und mit dem größten Segel ginge es 2 Monate, mit dem andern 3 und mit dem kleinsten 4. Nun ist die Frage: Wenn man alle 3 Segel aufgespannt [hätte] und doch [auch] in einen Wind [käme], in wie viel Monaten käme das Schiff dahin?

     Further: Suppose a ship, which has 3 sails, were going from Cairo to Constantinople. With the largest sail it would travel 2 months, with the medium one 3 months, and with the smallest 4 months. Now the question is: If all 3 sails had been hoisted and a wind did come up, within how many months would the ship get there?

     (The solution is 12/13 of a month.)
