※ See also 繁息 (fue) and 蕃息 (fue). There are three gikun versions of ふえ (fue) in Genesis 1 (a different version for each time the word is used in regards to different creatures) literally multiplying the way in which this can be written and thereby emphasizing God's command for living things to multiply and fill the earth.
Kami karera wo shuku shi Kami karera ni ii tamaikeru wa Umeyo fueyo chi ni miteyo kore wo shitagawaseyo mata umi no uo to sora no tori to chi ni ugoku tokoro no subete no ikimono wo osameyo
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
