From German BeVo, from Beteiligung (“partnership”)+Vorsteher (“surname”). From the company that popularized the weave, Beteiligung Vorsteher.

  1. (fashion) A style of fabric weave originally produced by punchcard Jacquard looms from the companies of Lucas Vorsteher and Ewald Vorsteher in Wuppertal-Barmen (later merging to become the Beteiligung Vorsteher company)
