From Late or Medieval Latin Bertamiri, in origin a Germanic personal name expressed as a Latin genitive, so meaning "Bertamir's property"; from Suevic or Gothic, from Proto-Germanic *Berhtamēraz, from *berhtaz (bright) + *mēraz (famous).[1]
