Etymology[edit]
The salient features of DiGeorge syndrome can be summarized by the mnemonic CATCH 22 (an allusion to Catch-22, a 1961 novel by Joseph Heller):
- Cardiac defects,
- Abnormal facies,
- Thymic aplasia,
- Cleft palate,
- Hypocalcemia/hypoparathyroidism, and
- 22q11.2 deletion.
