  1. (chiefly money) Alternative letter-case form of cos, abbreviation of consul.

Usage notes[edit]

When followed by Roman numerals, the number indicates the particular consulship during which the coin was issued. For example, VESPASIAN·COS·III indicates it was issued in the 3rd consulship of Vespasian.
