There are alternative spelling words in this category, would it not be better to put them in the Dutch alternative spellings category..? I actually think the pages here should be merged with Category:Dutch adjectives... -- 6Sixx 01:32, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

We don't merge different spellings. Each spelling gets its own entry. Consider: the spelling may be a word in another language, but also in Dutch. A user needs to be able to find all meanings of a word at that spelling. --EncycloPetey 01:34, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, let me rephrase -- I mean, not merge the pages, but rather merge the categories i.e "Category:Dutch adjective forms" merged with "Category:Dutch adjectives" - about the spelling, the page Amerikaanse clearly states that it is an alternative form of the word Amerikaans... should we not place the Amerikaanse article in "Dutch alternative spellings" instead of here? -- 6Sixx 01:38, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I understand. Yes, I think I would categorize Amerikaanse in simply Category:Dutch adjectives and Category:Dutch alternative forms. I've added the usual templates to that page. --EncycloPetey 01:43, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Any thought on the other suggestion? (merging this category with Category:Dutch adjectives?) I'm not all that experienced with Dutch but I can't see any difference between the articles in the two categories.. -- 6Sixx 01:50, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Sounds reasonable, but there is a technical issue. The "adjective forms" category and those like it exist across many languages, and are often added by template. Having one language lack the category would probably result in mis-indexed pages and people re-creating the category anyway. You might raise this issue in the WT:BP, where issues like this are usually discussed. --EncycloPetey 04:31, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
