What's irregular about iter or femur? The stem is often not quite predictable from the basic form, so that's no real reason to single them out. The rest of the declension is regular.

So they are interesting etymologically as partially preserved PIE *r/*n-heteroclitics (along with iecur), but the desinences are perfectly normal. It really is a question of how far must the stem alternation go before we declare it truly unredeemable by declensional standards. Clearly the stem alternation of Iuppiter ~ Iovis is too wild to be acceptable, but we've allowed the rhoticization of corpus ~ corporis become acceptable. I personally think that, unless a noun has odd case endings, is missing cases, or is clearly suppletive, it should not be considered irregular. I could be convinced otherwise in for these nouns, but for now I say remove them. —JohnC5 05:21, 18 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
