New Latin, from Ancient Greek κεφαλή (kephalḗ, “head”) + stem of ἀσπίς (aspís, “shield”) + -morphi

- A taxonomic class within the subphylum Vertebrata – jawless fish, all of which are extinct in most current classifications.
Usage notes[edit]
- In much of the 20th century this class included lampreys (Petromyzontidae).
