Borrowed from French cidre, from Old French sidre, cisdre, from Latin sicera, from Ancient Greek σίκερα (síkera), from Hebrew שֵׁכָר (šēḵār, “alcoholic drink”) or a related Semitic source (but apparently chiefly Biblical Greek).
