One could also say that a son-in-law is about "as good as" a son, which makes Ginny his future wife. Not that I'm on board the good ship H/G, but I cannot see why it should be wrong for someone to regard her daughter's husband as a son. By law and by custom, one's daughter's husband is one's son.
