  ... described in the language of the heralds as Azure, a galleon argent a chief fir twigged argent, in chief three pens bendwise sable. Which is to say a blue field with a white galleon, and a wide white stripe at the top with three black quills. The border between the stripe and the blue field was jagged in a way meant to resemble fit twigs, which became a heraldic pun, Quill-in-fir.
