English citations of terve

The NED has a verb tirve, terve "to turn, esp. upside down" with this cite:
  • 1567, Golding Ovid's Met., v, 1 v b:
made with crooked welked hornes that inward still doe terue [rime serue]
The NED also gives this cite of a two-syllable form (=tervy?) but the DSL takes it to be Scots:
  • 1819, W. Tennant, Papistry Storm'd (1827), 206:
He made him tirvie down and tapple Head-foremost wi' a bang.
