From Hokkien 許寰哥许寰哥 (Khó͘ Hoân-ko), via Spanish, the Spanish-era romanized Hokkien Chinese name of the family patriarch, composed of the patriarch's original surname, then one of the syllable's of his given name (either the personal non-generational character or the generational character of his Chinese given name), then the Hokkien (ko, older brother) male honorific suffix.
