Etymology[edit]

From Conmhaicne Mara (literally the Conmhaicne of the sea), a branch of an ancient native tribe named Conmhaicne (literally descendants of Conmhac), ultimately from con (hound) (prefix form of n-stem ) + mac (son).[1]
