Named after John Howard Dellinger who discovered the effect around 1935.

Dellinger effect (plural Dellinger effects)

  1. A ionospheric perturbation, resulting from abnormally high ionization or plasma density in the D region of the ionosphere and caused by a solar flare and/or solar particle event.
