Etymology[edit]
First attested as dusburg in 1025. Etymology uncertain. Perhaps a compound derived from Old Dutch dust (“brushwood”) or dôse (“mossy fen”) and burg (“reinforced settlement, castle”). Compare Donzel, Dunsborg, Duisburg, Duisenburg and Duisdorf.
