Newer form of Dramen, from Norwegian Dramn, with svarabhakti -e- and double consonant according to pronunciation, from Old Norse Drafn m (the inner part of Drammensfjorden), probably named after Drǫfn f (Drammenselva), from drǫfn (wave).
