From Turoyo ܐܶܣܛܪܰܢܓܶܠܳܐ (esṭrangelo), from Classical Syriac ܐܣܛܪܢܓܠܐ (ʾesṭrangēlā), from Ancient Greek στρογγύλος (strongúlos, “rounded”).
