Named after Euclid, the archon of Athens responsible for its adoption.

  1. The classical Greek alphabet, a modified form of the Ionic alphabet adopted by Athens in 403 BC following its defeat in the Peloponnesian War.

Usage notes[edit]

Used when distinguishing this form of the Greek alphabet from its other epichoric forms, particularly Athens's earlier Attic alphabet.
