Gemeinsprache f (genitive Gemeinsprache, plural Gemeinsprachen)

  1. (linguistics) common, general language (both spoken and written, but opposed to technical or scientific jargon, slang, dialects etc.)
    Synonym: Allgemeinsprache
    Die biologische Terminologie unterscheidet zwischen „Sperling“ und „Spatz“. In der Gemeinsprache sind es jedoch Synonyme.
    Biological terminology distinguishes between Sperling (any sparrow) and Spatz (house sparrow). In general use, however, they are synonyms.
