Etymology[edit]
From the brand of mustard Grey Poupon; from the name of the original manufacturer, Grey-Poupon; from the names of the two partners that originally established the French company, Frenchmen Maurice Grey and Auguste Poupon; from the surnames French Grey+Poupon. The term "Grey Poupon" entered popular consciousness through a series of television advertisements through the 1980s and most of the 1990s, thence to rap music.
