  • (Noord-Brabant) First attested as kyent in 1247. Perhaps derived from dialectal keen (split, gully, creek) with collectivising -t. Compare Keinse and Kinrooi.
  • (Limburg) First attested as Keent in 1790. Perhaps derived from dialectal keen (split, gap) or keen (pine tree, Pinus sp.). Compare Keinse and Kinrooi. See also Limburgish Kieëntj.
