Borrowed from Russian колхо́з (kolxóz), contraction of коллекти́вное хозя́йство (kollektívnoje xozjájstvo, “collective farm, household”).

Usage notes[edit]
- The genitive singular is des Kolchos with stress on the first o and des Kolchoses with stress on the second. The plural is always stressed on the second o.
- Outside of learned contexts the feminine form die Kolchose, a backformation from the plural, is by far predominant.
