From either the surname Meikle or the adjective meikle.

Proper noun[edit]

Meikle Ferry

  1. A location on the north side of Dornoch Firth, Highland council area, Scotland (OS grid ref NH7287).

Usage notes[edit]

The ferry no longer operates, but the slipway remains and is marked on OS maps. The short-lived Meikle Ferry railway station was on the south side of the firth, about a mile from the southern terminus of the ferry at Ferry Point.
