Etymology[edit]

From New Latin meliphaga, from Ancient Greek μέλι (méli, honey) + φαγητόν (phagētón, food, consumption), from φαγεῖν (phageîn) aorist of ἐσθίω (esthíō), ἔδω (édō, to eat, to consume).
