Sranan Tongo[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Literally, “I am a half cent, nobody can break me”. Minted until 1940, the half cent coin was the smallest denomination in circulation in Suriname and hence could not be divided into smaller units.

Proverb[edit]

Mi na afu sensi, no wan man e broko mi

  1. Nobody can break my spirit; nobody gets me down.
