Luxembourgish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Contraction of dated Muerjen, from Old High German morgan (morning). Akin to German Morgen, Dutch morgen, English morn. It is the only native word containing the diphthong [oɪ̯], which is otherwise restricted to loanwords from German or English.
