Etymology[edit]

From Nesodd- +‎ tangen (the ness, the cape). The place name Nesodden itself means the cape/ness of Nes and was the original name of Nesoddtangen. From Old Norse Nesoddi, from Nes +‎ oddi (cape, ness), with Nes being the old name of the peninsula between the Oslo Fjord and the Bunne Fjord, from nes (ness).
