  1. The northern region of India, comprising the states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, and the union territories of Delhi, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Often Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar are included, as well.
