Vietnamese[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Italian Fibonacci. The Italian phoneme /tʃ/ is generally rendered as the Vietnamese letter x and phoneme /s/, as if the Italian letter c was supposed to be pronounced like a "soft c" in French. Compare Lê-ô-nác-đô đa Vin-xi (Leonardo da Vinci), Xi-xi-li-a (Sicilia). French also influences how German names are rendered in Vietnamese.
