Etymology[edit]
Claimed to be from an Old Tupi and Nheengatu word meaning “land of palm trees”. The mention that enshrined Pindorama as a name for Brazil as a whole was in 1928 in Manifesto Antropófago by Oswald de Andrade. Cognate with Guaraní Pindoráma.
