Proto-Balto-Slavic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *wésr̥ ~ *uséns, *wósr̥ ~ *wésn̥s.
Noun[edit]
- spring (season)
Inflection[edit]
Heteroclitic *was(er) ~ *wesn-. The word was originally neuter in PIE, but is feminine in all the descendants, so it's unclear what the Balto-Slavic state of things was.
Descendants[edit]
- Latgalian: vosora
- Latvian: vasara
- Lithuanian: vãsara, (dialectal) vãsera
- Proto-Slavic: *vesnà (see there for further descendants)
