Etymology[edit]

Formed as *buna (excitation; riot) +‎ *-iti, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bʰewH- (to inflate, to grow) and partially from the onomatopoeic *bew- (to howl, to storm).

Verb[edit]

*buniti pf (imperfective *bujiti)

  1. to excite, to agitate
    (by extension) → to rebel, to riot
  2. to buzz, to ring (for sound)
