Normally. Brythonic radical 's-' originally lenited to 'h-' but 'st-' would lenite to 's-', which lead to confusion and later complete abandonment of this particular mutation. More or less it just depended on which environments occurred more frequently and that's the form that survived. Anglom (talk) 04:42, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
