Reconstruction[edit]

I wasn't really certain that this suffix could be reconstructed for Proto-Germanic until I learned that Old Frisian preserved it as well. Now I wonder if these ni-suffixes were the default and *-ingō, *-ungō were later innovations, or whether they were competing suffixes throughout.

Also, should I have instead reconstructed only *-niz and pointed to that in etymologies, or is it worthwhile for the combined suffixes *-ō-niz/*-ī-niz to have their own pages? Anglom (talk) 21:36, 8 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
