Those infinitves can be found in both Middle/Early Modern English, therefore I undid the undo (har har). I am in the process of finding a couple of citations, but two relatively well-known books in which both forms can be found are the Canterbury Tales or the Faerie Queene. PGmc etymology precedent[edit]

Not particularly a comment on this page, since it provides the immediate etymology well, but since I have no other good place to put this, to my knowledge… is there a reason that Proto-Germanic verb entries are listed as coming from *-ti infinitives rather than *-onom infinitives? I think it would make it much clearer for beginner Indo-Europeanists, and the *-ti pages usually don't link to anything either way. Sapphire Juniper (talk) 13:54, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
