Etymology[edit]

The Etymology currently says, “A Germanic derivation from *mari”. But the page for PIE root meh₂- (second homograph) ‘wet, moist’ derives it and the Celtic words for a bog from this root, which looks more likely semantically. --Caoimhin (talk) 21:46, 4 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
