Initial h-[edit]

@Leasnam It's odd that we reconstruct an initial h- here, even though it doesn't appear in any of the languages where you'd expect it, most notably Old Norse and Old English. Should we move it? —CodeCat 00:52, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes. I'd move it. I deleted my original reply, but to put it succinctly, you read my mind ! Leasnam (talk) 01:12, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
I saw you move it but then move it back and delete a bunch of stuff. What happened? —CodeCat 01:14, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
I meant to move the entry page, but wasn't paying attention and moved the talk page instead :\ Leasnam (talk) 01:19, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
According to etymologiebank.nl, the Old High German and Old Frisian forms are also attested with h-. Perhaps all the h-forms could be gathered on its page. —CodeCat 01:22, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. I can move the alternate etymology there as well. Leasnam (talk) 01:49, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
