spyrian[edit]

I listed OE spyrian based on http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=spy. This was reverted by Chuck Entz, who said "Not a descendant; probably related to spoor". I thought I should note it here, not because I think Chuck is wrong (after all, where did the R come from?), but so that others will know not to make the same mistake. -- TimNelson (talk) 06:11, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks ! The mention of the Old English word there is due to semantics (spyrian was the Old English equivalent of "spy"). It was not intended to be taken as a cognate. Leasnam (talk) 15:26, 18 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
