Further etymology[edit]

From deep prehistoric *eɲə/emə/ekə? See Proto-Indo-European éǵ(H), én#Hungarian

Though we have Proto-Indo-European *éǵ(h₂), Proto-Afroasiatic *ˀanāku, Proto-Austronesian *(i-)aku, Proto-Yeniseian *ʔaʒ alongside Proto-Sino-Tibetan *ŋa-j ~ ka, we prefer on the Wiktionary to follow scholar's mainstream comparative linguistics and not creating an entry for this because we don't know if and how they are related and thus it would be unlikely and tentative, rather than creating some "Nostratic" or even "Borean" entries when the existence of such languages is highly disputed because such entries would be of course very bad as long-range comparisons are by definition tentative.
