Etymology[edit]
First attested as sledenake in 1253. Derived from Proto-Germanic *Slado (“a personal name”) suffixed with Gallo-Roman Latin -iniacas. Not derived from Salinius or *slede (“slope, slippery place”). Compare Schleidweiler.
