History of this letter

I was just improving the category sorting a little. I wasn't sure whether to sort this is a "c" which is what it looks like, or an "o" which is what it sounds like. Does anybody know about the history/invention of this letter? I think "c" is the best bet. — Hippietrail 14:28, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

In case anyone is still wondering, the name of the character, in both IPA and the African reference alphabet, where it is pronounced as IPA/ɔ/, is "open-o", which makes the issue somewhat clearer. --Enginear 21:20, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Dangme Particle

The online audio version in the footnote follows the 1999 translation which I have used. A similar but not identical translation to the 1999 Bible quote, taken from Watson Goodman Yemi ke Buami ne je Hiɔwe (Help from Above), (World Missionary Press), page 31, is available online at the GospelGo website. However, the orthography of the Adangme language was only standardised in 1969, and since I am unclear if the booklet's translation predates that (it is somewhere in the range 1951-2010), the 1999 translation has been used, even though not available in writing online. --Enginear 00:44, 10 January 2012 (UTC)
