Angler? Angler-fish?

Beekes clearly states that, in addition to the primary meaning of "frog", this term refers to “a fish, ‘Lophius piscatorius’ (Arist.), see Strömberg 1943:92f. [Studien zur Etymologie und Bildung der griechischen Fischnamen]”; LSJ on the other hand cites as the meaning "sea-angler" as well as "a kind of fish", with ἁλιεύς (halieús) being a synonym, but not that the type of fish it refers to is an angler. Could this have gotten lost in translation, mistaking the gloss "sea-angler" for the type of fish? Or does ἁλιεύς (halieús) mean both "angler" as in a fisherman and "anglerfish", as coincidentally in English?
